im 13 years old and im black

*ahem* so i am of arican descent i mean AFRICAN descent both of my parents are nigerian =D. i once had medium length hair for ur typical 10year old but then "mama knows best."
i got the biggest haircut ever!!!! mamma siad it was a 'trim" but she cut it short a goood 4inches. i was in shock. that was at age 10. im now 13 and i have a relaxer (got it just last week) and my hair is short! its to 1/3 of my neck. i only started getting perms in august.
i used to get them in 3rd grade which never seemed to damge my hair. it is so short and i really wanna grow it longer. i never like to braid my hair cuz i have a huge forehead. a good 5 fingers lol!!! i put vitamin E oil evry now and then and a little black & sassy but i get like an inch of growth in RANDOM places. so it gets uneven which means more 'trims'. the rite side of my head is longer than the left too!!! how can i grow 4 inches of hair ALL AROUND and even it out???? for once i'd like to rock a
decent ponytail! will i have to go natural for it to grow?
if i take vitamins will that help?

Time. Unless you can extentions in the mean time to make your hair feel even out. I experimented with cutting layers out my hair and my first layer was 5 inch shorter than bottom layer! I was really upset because i didnt want to go anyshorter. I suggest because your hair is so short just a matter of time to let it grow out . Its good your useing alot of Vitamen E, because that will help. its just a matter of time you have to let it to grow. It took me 6 months to get my hair the length I wanted but it definatly paided off! if your hair is uneven and you dont want it shorter I would suggest extentions but yeah. good luck! <3

i used to have that same problem too! Do you straighten your hair with a flat iron, along with the perm? Have you ever tried straightening it WITHOUT the perm?
I'm sure your hair is more curly than mine, because I'm only half black, but what I did was take a break from those perms and relaxers, and just straightened it once a week with a flat iron. People told me to just let it be natural but I HATE dealing with my natural hair, so I just straightened and conditioned it. It's been about 4 months and I've noticed a definite change in the length, and it looks so much healthier.
So you could try that, and see if it works...but have you ever had a weave done? You can also get a sew in or glue in weave for a couple of months, so your actual hair doesn't get damaged with all the chemicals already in it.
i hope I helped, but if you have any questions send me an e-mail, alright?
    good luck =]
